About me

I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 20 years.   I have worked  in a youth counselling service,  an NHS staff counselling service, and for the past 11 years in a community psychotherapy service.  I also work in private practice and as a supervisor

I work in all areas of distress, but have extensive experience of working with childhood emotional and sexual abuse and trauma, with loss, with depression and anxiety,  with addiction and destructive patterns,  with a search for meaning and creativity, with relationships,  parenting, and with chronic illness, and with feeling lost.

In my teens, fascinated by dreams I began to explore the work of  C G Jung and  Sufi meditation where dreams are also valued for their personal and collective insights.

I worked for 20 years with people with learning disabilities, with individuals and families in the community,  to raise the standards of respect and  value  of this marginalised group in community life.  After an initial training in counselling families with a learning disabled child, I  pursued training as a counsellor,  psychotherapist  and supervisor, with many rich explorations of creativity and bodymind connections integrated in my approach

As I faced my own life challenges, I  found compassion, creativity, challenge in the relationships with my therapists,  I aim to provide the same.

I have also been helped by Nature as the ground, and inspiration for life and living,  Nature can help us to live our own true nature.

“We should keep our feet on the ground to signify that nothing is beneath us, but we should also lift up our eyes to say nothing is beyond us.”

~~ Seamus Heaney
